This case involves the conduct of the operators of four motor vehicles. On April 22, 1949, at about 7:15 p. m. a short time before the collisions occurred, defendant Joseph Sickl had been driving his truck south on U. S. Highway 51 in Portage County. About one-half mile from the scene of the accident his motor ceased to function. After the truck had stopped he was able by the use of his starting apparatus to move it into a position which left all but 18 inches thereof upon the concrete roadway. He got out of the truck and while he was lifting the hood, the automobile of plaintiff David E. Quady, approaching from the north, collided with it. Quady was driving his car and was accompanied by his wife.
